On Thursday December 4th, 2025, BBI welcomed Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada, Her Excellency Professor Dora Francisca Edu‑Buandoh, and her team.
We had the distinct honour of hosting a Ghana–Atlantic Canada Economic Roundtable bringing together influential business leaders in Atlantic Canada to lead conversations about global opportunity, partnership, and connection.
Why We Came Together
The roundtable discussion included representatives from organizations such as The Government of Ghana, the Black Business Initiative (BBI), Halifax Partnership (African Nova Scotian Road to Economic Prosperity), Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), Halifax International Airport Authority, Efficiency One, Africa Canada Trade and Investment Venture (ACTIVE),Vanity Fashions and Invest Nova Scotia.
The discussions surrounded creating new pathways for collaboration across trade, investment, entrepreneurship, climate innovation, aviation connectivity, and supply chain development. More importantly, it marked the beginning of what we hope will become a structured, long-term relationship between Ghana and Atlantic Canada, one rooted in respect, shared opportunity, and economic collaboration.
At the heart of the conversation was a powerful shared vision in strengthening economic and diplomatic ties while amplifying Black-led organizations as critical bridges in global business and innovation.
Together, we explored several key developments such as:
● Opportunities in the mining, agriculture and energy sectors.
● Clean energy and climate transition as aligned opportunities
● Flight partnerships between Canadian Airlines and Ghana
● Entrepreneurship and SME development as engines for shared growth
● Prioritizing a 24 hour economy to boost productivity in Ghana
● Manufacturing and supply chains as pathways for resilience
● Investment rebates and tax incentives for foreign investors
● Ghana’s $10B infrastructure boost for transport, healthcare and education
Looking Ahead with Optimism
This meeting marked an important first step, and we are encouraged by the energy, openness, and commitment shown by everyone in the room. There is real momentum building, and a great deal of hope on the horizon.
