The Black Business Initiative is proud to honour Black entrepreneurs and business leaders across Atlantic Canada through our prestigious awards. Each year, we recognize incredible contributors the Atlantic Canada small business space. As we approach our 30th Anniversary, we will recognize four businesses that have made a significant impact in the areas of overall business excellence, entrepreneurship, export business and youth entrepreneurship. Award of Business Excellence
The Black Business Initiative Society (BBI) presents the Hector Jacques Award of Business Excellence every two years to honor outstanding leadership and achievement in the Atlantic Provinces’ Black business community. This award celebrates companies or individuals who demonstrate exceptional business success, innovation, and a strong commitment to social responsibility. Nominate a deserving business today! It could even be your own.
Entrepreneur of the Year Award
The Black Business Initiative (BBI) annually recognizes a Black entrepreneur in Atlantic Canada who demonstrates excellence in business and community leadership. Nominate a Black owned business that you are proud of today. Self nominations are welcome.
Export Business of The Year Award
Any established Black Entrepreneur (minimum 2 years in business) in the Atlantic Provinces that has demonstrated a strong business acumen (through good business planning and a consistent growth and development pattern) and support for the community. You must have proven growth in your Export Business. Nominate a Black owned export business in your community today! Self nominations are welcome.

Youth Entrepreneur Business of the Year Award
This award is to recognize youth who have taken an idea and turned it into a business to not only share with others but to grow it into a viable business. It also recognizes the determination, hard work and sacrifices made by them in realizing their potential. Nominate an outstanding Black owned youth business today. Self nominations are welcome.
