Message from the Chair of the Board

Greg Browning , Chair of the BBI Board of Directors
Welcome to the BBI website. We hope that this site serves as a valuable tool to learn more about the BBI, the work that we do and the important services we provide.
As Chair of the BBI Board of Directors, I have the pleasure of working with a passionate Board and staff committed to building a strong, vibrant Black business community in this province.
With more than ten years to its credit, the BBI has moved from serving primarily as a lending agency to the second phase of its growth - the BBI Composite Group of Companies.
The Composite Group of Companies is designed to ensure the sustainability of Black businesses across Nova Scotia and includes:
- Black Business Consulting (BBC) - Including ADEPA
- Business is Jammin'(BIJ)
- Black Business Enterprise (BBE)
- the Black Business Community Investment Fund (The "Fund")
BBI has benefited from the leadership of successful entrepreneurs and community leaders who have helped BBI achieve many successes over the years including:
- Black Business Community Investment Fund (BBCIFL) - The BBCIFL offers an investment opportunity for all Nova Scotians highlighting the importance of investing in the Back business community's future.
- Business is Jammin' - Year after year, this youth program has seen increased participation, encouraging our youth to embrace the entrepreneurial spirit.
- "Black to Business" - BBI's quarterly magazine profiles and celebrates successful Black Nova Scotian entrepreneurs and community leaders.
- Black Business Summit - Held bi-annually, the Summit has come to be known as a premiere business event headlined by some of North America's most impressive Black business leaders.
- ADEPA - Introduced in 2007, ADEPA is the construction consulting arm of BBC. A Ghanaian word for "work of such quality that it is self-distinguishing," ADEPA is helping more Black companies get a foot in the door of the construction industry.
BBI's core focus continues to be strengthening and empowering Black Nova Scotian entrepreneurs. As BBI moves forward, it will continue to operate as One Brand with One Vision under One Organization.
