CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER - BLACK BUSINESS INITIATIVE

Since 1996, the Black Business Initiative has promoted, encouraged and assisted Nova Scotia’s Black-owned businesses through marketing, budgeting and financing support. As the founding C.E.O. retires, the Board of Directors is seeking a successor who will bring an understanding of Nova Scotia’s Black community, inspirational leadership and tireless energy to the work of this not-for-profit organization.

There are two sides to this Chief Executive Officer role. The first is the development of relationships in the private and public sectors that will influence the business culture of Nova Scotia leadership. The second is the management and administration of a ten person operation with an annual budget of approximately $2 million.

How will you know if this is a role where you could thrive professionally and make a positive difference? The most important asset you would bring to this role is a passion for the cause. That passion will be your own driving force and a compelling example for the BBI team. You can also add financial and people management experience to BBI. Because it’s a not-for-profit organization in the public eye, BBI has an added responsibility to spend and invest wisely as it promotes and assists Black-owned businesses and expands career options in the Province. As the face and voice of BBI, the C.E.O. will be front and centre with the media, leaders in the private sector, charitable donors, the community and government officials. Comfortable in the spotlight, you are an accomplished speaker and presenter who would embrace the opportunity to advance the mission of BBI whenever and wherever you have the chance.
